The Sounds of Clutter

I helped my stepson clutter bust this past weekend. We came upon some art supplies. I asked him about a paint-by-numbers kit. I asked if he liked using it or would he let it go. He scrunched his face and said, "Ummm, well, ahhhh."

I said those are the sounds of clutter. There was uncertainty in his voice. You can't hide the emotion of doubt. He got it that he was getting tangled up in the uncertainty. Once you notice it, it's a pretty bad taste. He decided to let the paint-by-numbers go.

When you go through your things, notice any hesitation about an item. It's a red flag. It's a powerful feeling to let go of something that is not a definitive yes. There's no room in our lives for things that aren't essential.
