"Who am I without my stuff?"

I worked on the phone with a client who was preparing for a move. She was feeling stuck. She said, "Who am I without my stuff? I'm afraid."

I said, "You begin the letting-go process by considering yourself. You're the most important thing in your home. You want to feel free and strong and independent enough to ask of your things, "Do I love and use you, or is it time for you to go? You don't want to be a curator for the museum of your life. When you let go of what doesn't serve you, you become present to the things, people and activities that you love now. Your life becomes a living thing."
