My Skype client was having a hard time clutter busting the clothes in her
closet. She felt emotionally attached to clothes she no longer wore.
So I
told her to take the clothes out of the closet and put them on the bed.
It's easier to make decisions when you take what you are considering
out of where you are used to seeing it.
Then I had her put out her
credit and debit cards, her check book, and any cash she had, on the bed
next to her clothes. As she went through each piece of clothing, I had
her ask, "If I were out shopping today, would I spend my money (look at
the money) on this item?"
She was able to think much more clearly and
make better decisions.
